The Co-Founders of Advanced Care
E. Christopher Glavaris, PT, DScPT
A graduate of
Washington College with a B.S. degree in Biology and Chemistry, Chris
received his doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from the University of
Maryland, Baltimore. He has conducted research at the Johns Hopkins School
of Medicine, Department of Cell Biology and Neurology.
Chris
practices both orthopedic and neurological physical therapy and has
developed special interests in spinal, shoulder and craniomandibular
dysfunctions. His unique blend of manual therapy, progressive exercises
and patient education ensures a successful rehabilitation.
Chris serves
as Assistant Clinical Professor for the Department of Physical Therapy and
Rehabilitation Sciences at his alma mater, University of Maryland,
Baltimore, where he is past president of the Alumni Association. UMB
honored him for his many contributions by naming him "2004 Alumnus of the
Year." Chris has taught courses and seminars at both the entry and
postgraduate levels and is a member of the American Physical Therapy
Association, Private Practice and Orthopedic Section.
Theodoros Vlahoyiannis, PT
Ted holds a bachelor's
degree in Health Science Policy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore
County and graduated from the Physical Therapy Program at the University
of Maryland Eastern Shore. He practiced at Franklin Square Hospital's
physical therapy clinics before embarking upon a career in private
practice in 1988.
Ted has
extensive experience in orthopedic, neurologic, geriatric, aquatic and
craniomandibular physical therapy with a focus on manual therapies. He has
a special interest in women's physical therapy healthcare.
Ted served
for nine years as adjunct clinical instructor at the University of
Maryland, Baltimore, Physical Therapy Department. A member of the American
Physical Therapy Association since 1984, Ted participates in the Private
Practice Section, the Aquatic Section, the Orthopedic Section and the
Section on Women's Health.
Rob
Connolly, DPT
Rob Connolly received
his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland,
Baltimore, in 2005. He joined Advanced Care shortly thereafter, bringing a
dynamic approach to the treatment of orthopedic and sports-related
injuries.
At Advanced
Care, Rob demonstrates his passion for his profession with special
interests in manual therapy for the treatment of lower back pain, shoulder
dysfunction, and skilled rehabilitation of the athletic population. He
incorporates his knowledge of the latest research in treating his patients
with a strong emphasis on manual therapy.
Rob utilizes
an entirely holistic approach to each individual's rehabilitation needs
with emphasis on skilled therapeutic exercises. He looks forward to
attaining his Maitland certification to target treatments for the lower
back and spinal disorders.
Linda Dilley, PTA
Linda Dilley, Physical
Therapy Assistant, has been practicing in the physical therapy field for
15 years. A graduate of Baltimore City Community College, she holds an
Associates Degree in Physical Therapy and has been certified by the
American Physical Therapy Association as a Certified Clinical Instructor
for Physical Therapy Assistant students.
Linda's
career includes 13 years working in outpatient orthopedics and two years
in home health care. Her areas of special interest and study include
aquatic therapy and orthopedic rehabilitation of the shoulder, hip and
knee. Linda particularly enjoys working with the senior population.
Linda has a
strong interest in community education and currently oversees the Wellness
Program at Advanced Care. In this capacity, she advises Wellness Program
clients how to stay fit and active and motivates them to become more
knowledgeable about their health.
Joe Federline, PT, MPT
Joe Federline received
his Masters Degree in Physical Therapy with High Honors from the
University of Maryland, Baltimore, in 2003. Finishing second in his class,
Joe was also honored as the recipient of the Laura G. Levine-Mandell Award
which recognizes a student who demonstrates exceptional compassion toward
patients in an orthopedic clinical setting.
Joe joined
Advanced Care shortly after graduation, bringing a mixture of youth and
enthusiasm coupled with advanced education to further foster the most
current treatment techniques utilized at ACPT.
Joe's
special interests and expertise lie in the realm of orthopedic physical
therapy practice, specifically skills in the management of the spine
attained through a series of continuing education and Geoffrey Maitland
courses. He is in the process of becoming a certified orthopedic
specialist and Maitland certified. Joe is also skilled in advanced
techniques on the knee and shoulder joint complexes.
Debbie
Nassau, PT, MBA
Debbie Nassau has
worked with the injured worker and employers in Maryland since 1989. She
received her MBA from the Executive Program at Loyola College and operated
her own rehabilitation company for seven years.
Debbie is an
experienced clinician specializing in musculo-skeletal impairments that
limit the function of the worker. She directs the WorkSmart and Industrial
Rehabilitation programs at Advanced Care.
Debbie has
conducted extensive research and published in the field of Industrial
Rehabilitation on how Pre-Work Functional Screenings lower an employer's
injury rate, medical costs and lost work-days.
As an expert
consultant, she has conducted job site analysis for the City of Baltimore
and developed a comprehensive functional screening examination for
prospective employees of Rite-Aid Corporation.
Debbie is
also trained to perform Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs). She
enables her clients to achieve successful outcomes through a combination
of supervised land and aquatic therapies, and work conditioning and work
hardening programs.
