Our Facilities
Advanced Care's modern
8,000 square-foot facility features:
● An indoor
600-square foot, therapeutic pool with water heated to 96 degrees and a
comfortable air temperature.
● A
dedicated Industrial Rehabilitation Center where, under the supervision of
expert clinicians, injured workers receive therapy using a variety of
specialized equipment.
● A more
than 2,000 square-foot gymnasium outfitted with the latest in
rehabilitation equipment, including stair-steppers, treadmills, exercise
bicycles and weights.
Aquatic Therapy at Advanced Care
Some physical
therapy patients may find it difficult to engage in a traditional exercise
regimen. Post-surgical patients, amputees, those with rheumatoid
arthritis, hip or knee replacements, and spinal cord injuries generally
prefer to exercise in the water.
For these
patients, Aquatic
Therapy offers a beneficial alternative.
"The water
provides buoyancy but also a certain amount of resistance," explains Chris
Glavaris. "Our heated therapeutic pool also helps patients with rheumatoid
arthritis warm up their joints."
Advanced
Care Wellness Program members also enjoy use of the pool.
The
Wellness Program at Advanced Care
The
Wellness Program provides the option for
community members and previous patients to use the facilities at Advanced
Care to initiate or maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Members have
access to the clinic's fitness equipment and heated pool. They exercise
under the direction of a physical therapist and gain independence with
their program as they become comfortable.
The
Program's low membership rate varies depending on whether a member attends
two or three times a week. Fees are paid monthly "as you go" so members
are not bound by any long-term contract.
The
Industrial Rehabilitation Program
Directed by
Debbie Nassau, PT, MBA, Advanced Care's Industrial
Rehabilitation Program has two primary purposes: to rehabilitate
clients injured on the job to return them quickly to work and to foster
timely resolution of each Worker's Compensation case.
Debbie has
worked with injured workers and employers in Maryland since 1989 and is an
experienced clinician specializing in musculo-skeletal impairments that
limit a worker's function.
The
Industrial Rehabilitation program features individualized therapy programs
that emphasize a worker's ability rather than his disability. Clients are
able to achieve successful outcomes through a combination of supervised
land and aquatic therapies, and a work conditioning and work hardening
program.
During 2005,
Advanced Care's Industrial Rehabilitation program boasted a more than 75%
success rate in returning clients to full or modified duty on the job, an
outcome rate much higher than the national average.
